Wordpress -- The com and the org

Published on

I have to say that I'm really impressed with Wordpress as a whole. They have a really awesome blogging platform, and a really cool community. There is Wordpress.com if you don't want to go through the effort of hosting your own blog, and you can easily turn around and run the same software on your own server when the time comes, exporting your posts straight from the wordpress.com Blog dashboard and importing them in to your new wordpress install is insanely easy. The only thing is pointing users at your new blag; how do you redirect your readers to the new pages? Wordpress.com even takes care of that, letting you purchase 301 redirects to automatically send your readers from the old site to a new one.

Wordpress has done an awesome job creating a commercially sustainable product, while also making sure that the community is well taken care of, both the commercial community and the more technical hacker community.
